The Tulsa Technology Center has renovated their automotive training facility that is going to put its focus on alternative fuel technology more than ever. Over 350 people attended a dedication ceremony on Friday, and energy advocate T. Boone Pickens was the guest of honor. Many of the guests showed their support for the project by arriving on a Tulsa Transit that was completely fueled by compressed natural gas.
The goal behind this Center as well as places throughout the United States is to work together to stop American’s need of foreign oil and help America use natural gases instead. Did you know that there are over 13 million vehicles that are ran on natural gas throughout the world and only about 140,000 are located within the United States? This is something that needs to change and the future is bright with so many more people doing their part and wanting to ‘go green’. While little steps make a difference, we need more places like the Tulsa Technology Center to step up and lead the way.
Pickens is working with other advocates on a bill called House Resolution 1380, which offers tax credits to those who either purchase or manufacture natural gas vehicles. This is only one of the things these advocates have in store for all of us, and it’s going to be interesting to see what they come up with next to get more people on board.
This facility is working hard to educate, train and prepare people for the changes that will come with the conversion to natural gas. The goal is to make the United States more capable on its own and create a safer and cleaner world. This change is not going to happen overnight, but it’s on the way and these locations that are all working for the same common goal are going to change the world forever.
